We had a great week at the National Eisteddfod Rhondda Cynon Taf in Pontypridd promoting the diverse opportunities offered through the WI and our current campaigning priorities.

On the Tuesday, we held an event with the Farmers’ Union of Wales (FUW) to raise awareness of violence against women and engage organisations and individuals in taking action to end violence against women.

Rhian Connick, Head of NFWI-Wales introduced the session and highlighted the involvement of WI members in recruiting male ambassadors to make the White Ribbon promise to ‘never use, excuse or remain silent about men’s violence against women’.

TV and radio presenter and campaigner Jess Davies spoke of the need to create a society where women and girls can live their lives fear-free.

Cerith Griffiths, Executive Council Member of the Fire Brigades Union spoke of the importance of men in roles such as fire officers speaking out against violence against women and Dai Miles, Vice-President of the FUW highlighted the commitment of the FUW in reaching out to its network to help end violence against women.
