Book your place at the 2025 Wales Conference

The 2025 NFWI-Wales Conference is being held in the Selwyn Samuel Centre, Llanelli on Wednesday 16 April. This will be a notable and celebratory event in the NFWI calendar as it will be the 100th Conference and each member that attends the event will be given a token gift to mark the occasion.

Confirmed speakers:

1. Professor Steve Ormerod

Steve Ormerod is a Professor of Ecology at Cardiff University and studies the effects of global change on river ecosystems. He has held governance roles with a range of learned societies, research institutes, environmental NGOs and government bodies, and is currently Deputy Chairman of Natural Resources Wales and Vice-President of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. He will address the Conference on 'The changing face of river pollution: the need for action'.

3. Mari Thomas, Mari Thomas Jewellery

Mari, who is based in Llandeilo, runs a jewellery design business.  Her jewellery is exhibited across the world and she has also had some very high-profile commissions. Mari will talk about her inspiration for the different designs she makes and will also have a stand from which she will be selling some pieces.

4. Melanie Johnson, Deputy Health Director of UK-Med and the UK Emergency Medical Team.

An ex-army officer, registered nurse and physician associate, Melanie has spent the last ten years in clinical and coordination roles. Her technical areas of experience include disaster and conflict response, pre-hospital and emergency healthcare as well as primary care service in crisis. Melanie's recent responses include multiple deployments to Gaza, where her work has been recognised with a UK Humanitarian Medal.

The Conference will close with a performance by Rock Choir.

The cost per member to attend the event will be £15.
