Doveridge WI
A group of nine members from Doveridge WI (Derbyshire Federation) have been using the lockdown to sew drawstring bags for scrubs. The first consignment of 90 scrub bags was delivered to the Royal Derby Hospital by a nurse who works there.
Inside one of the bags were a number of pairs of red hearts, knitted by one of the group, to go to the ICU. The idea: one of the hearts will be given to a patient and the other to their family, to form a connection and give comfort during this difficult time.
In addition, Doveridge WI members have sent 28 scrub bags to two doctor’s surgeries in Uttoxeter, a small market town only two miles from Doveridge. Members will continue making the scrub bags to support their local hospitals and surgeries wherever they are needed.
