Christmas reindeer
What is Christmas without a reindeer or two? Try your hand at the art of paper cutting and folding to create these quick and fun festive characters.
You will need:
- Reindeer pattern – download PDF
- Red and green stiff paper or thin card, 160gms recommended
- Contrasting paper or card for saddle and hooves
- Access to a photocopier
- Paper scissors
- Glue
- Embellishments such as ribbon, braid, gems, beads and sequins
- Acrylic pens
To make
1. Photocopy or print your pattern on to red or green paper.
2. Cut out, score and fold along all dotted lines.
3. Glue the tab on the reindeer’s body and join the edges together, creating his bottom.
4. Add contrasting paper shapes for hooves.
5. Crease the neck into mountain and valley folds, see diagram above for direction.
6. Glue the underside of the tab on the head and attach to the tab on the antlers. Glue the tab on the underside of the antlers and attach to the tab on the neck. Join the cheeks and neck together with glue.
7. Add beads and/or scraps of paper for eyes and a nose.
8. Glue and attach the tabs on the breast to the sides of the body.
9. Add a rectangle of contrasting paper for a saddle and embellish with ribbon, braid, gems, beads, sequins and acrylic pens to finish.
