Seed Bombs
You will need:
Makes 25 bombs
- 1 cup as a measure (250 ml)
- 2 cups of flour (any old flour lurking in the cupboard will do)
- 1 cup of water
- 5 cups of compost
- 1 cup of flower seeds – wildflower seeds for bees and butterflies
To make:
Into a large bowl place, the compost and the flour and mix together, add the cup of flower seeds and incorporate.
Pour into the bowl 1 cup of water and mix it together (hands are best) until it comes together – like a ball of dough.
Tear off pieces of the dough-like mixture and roll into marble size or golf ball size balls.
Place on a tray and leave to dry overnight. They may need longer depending on how warm the temperature and the size of the bombs made.
Hand the bombs out in a small bag or container as a gift for people to throw on their walks. Best thrown April – June and when rain has been forecast. Ideal for gardens and community areas (seek permission).
Use to develop areas of wonderful wildflowers for bees.
